Vihiga County Government has set aside Ksh. 100 Million for the construction of Cultural centers in each of its Sub Counties in the region.
The Executive Member in the Ministry Youth, Sports and Culture Nixon Amendi said the County Government is determined to make sure that the heritage of the County is well protected and the Culture centers will help in achieving these.
Amendi said the Ministry has created Cultural Day celebrations for each of the four sub tribes in the County that constitutes of Maragoli, Banyore, Tiriki and the Teriks.
The Moses Budamba Mausoleum construction is set to kick off from any time soon at a piece of land behind Mbale High School, the project that is going to be funded by the County Government and well-wishers is set to cost Ksh. 300 Million.
The Mausoleum will consist of artifact’s section, swimming pool, Basketball court, shopping mall among other things.
This project was initiated to honor the late Budamba who was instrumental in keeping Maragoli Culture by coming up with Maragoli Cultural festivals that are always carried out on 26th December of each year.
“We are asking well-wishers to join as in making sure this noble course is realized” Said Amendi.
We want to make sure each sub tribe Culture is recognized and help in protecting it for the future generation.
Amendi was speaking at the Tiriki and Terik Cultural festivals that were held at Hamisi Stadium in Hamisi Sub County.
