Vihiga Queens crashed Wadadia FC 5-0 and went on top of the Women Premier league in a thrilling derby played at Mumias complex Stadium.
Vihiga Queens has now displaced last week’s leaders Thika Queens to the second place by a larger goal deference.
The Western Queens have not conceded a single goal in their two outings with 6 points and 11 goals yet Thika Queens have the same points from two outings but have conceded two goals.
The derby started on a high note with two sides playing trying to defend their unbeaten records.
However in the 22nd minute Queens’ star winger Maurine Atar collected the ball from the left flank went past Wadadia’s Joyce Otini before lifting a high ball that found Phoeby Owiti at the edge of the right box and send a a strong volley above Wadadia’s keeper Monica Odato.
Efforts by the Home team to equalize bore no fruits as their strikers were stopped by the defense marshaled by Jacklyne Musimbi.
In the 53th and 68th Phoeby Owiti and Enez Mango got a brace a piece to make it 3-0.
In the struck of 90 substitute Lynder Choka sealed the margin by a cool curve from a dead ball after Irene Wabwire brought Mango at the edge of the box.
Vihiga Queens coach Alex Alumira said “Was it not for the opponents to sit back we would have scored more goals.”
Wadadia Coach Paul Wesa said his team was affected the absence of lead striker Betha Omita who was red carded in their first game against Falcon FC. They beat Falcon 4-0.
