Bungoma County governor Kenneth Makelo Lusaka has vowed to maintain his mutual working relationship with the national government led by his Excellency Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta so as to spur development to the people of Bungoma County.
Speaking after attending a mass to bless a bus donated to St Mary’s Sosio girls Kamkuywa in his backyard, Lusaka said it is only through a good rapport with the current leadership of the country that such rare projects are achieved.
He disclosed that it was during the president’s visit to Kamkuywa during his homecoming ceremony at Mapera primary school that the school took advantage of the president’s motorcade passing by to request for a bus and indeed he came to fulfill the promise.
Governor Lusaka thanked the president for the generous gesture and called upon the school management and students to take the bus as a motivation to now improve on the academic performance of the school.
“Now that the bus is here you have no excuse of not performing well in your exams therefore you have to harness your potential to be an academic giant in this region and you will indeed make me proud after having at one time been a teacher in this school ” he said
He dismissed those who may have contrary opinion of the bus coming saying after visiting state house to collect it the students were inspired to share a breakfast meal with the president saying it is only possible if one is in support of the government.
However Lusaka called upon the electorates to vet the leaders according to their development projects initiated in office saying with the presidential and gubernatorial posts having a maximum of two terms he is sure they will be elected on the basis of their track record.
His sentiments were echoed by Kimilili politician Didmus Wekesa Baraza who is aspiring for the Kimilili parliamentary seat who pledged his support for governor Lusaka saying visionary leadership displayed by him will lead Bungoma County to development.
On her part the school principal Selina Asman expressed her gratitude to the president saying having the bus will boost many activities of the school and also help the students attend trips with ease after having struggled previously to hire.
She disclosed that as an institution they are aiming at improving on their results in the national examinations saying together with other stakeholders they have strategized to ensure the girl child passing through the school succeeds in life.
