Vihiga MP Yusuf Chanzu has asked Vihiga Governor Moses Akaranga to stop spreading propaganda to locals that Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress (ANC) party would not field a gubernatorial candidate, relating this to the fact that the governor supports Mudavadi’s presidential bid. Chanzu says governor Moses Akaranga, who he intends to defend his seat on his Progressive Party of Kenya (PPK), is misleading the public over the issue and he has no right to meddle with other parties’ affairs, adding that the party will field a candidate for all the positions available in the next general elections.
Governor Akaranga has been vocal on many occasions, drumming up support for Mudavadi’s presidential bid at the same time pleading Mudavadi to back his second term bid by not fielding any candidate for the gubernatorial position via the ANC ticket.
The MP who is eyeing Akaranga’s seat in an expected, tight race, says Akaranga fears competition since he is unsure of retaining his position. “Akaranga should stop misleading the people of Vihiga about ANC he should be telling the residents about the projects he has initiated in the County,” said Chanzu, “He has no right to meddle into ANC affairs and fooling Wananchi, he is now diverting attention from his incompetence.” He said every party has the right to field a candidate in any position saying ANC is not an exception.
The MP who has been a huge critic of Akaranga’s administration hinted he would be the probable candidate vying for the gubernatorial position on ANC party ticket. “I went to Parliament with UDF and after it was dissolved I am with ANC and Akaranga should be ready to face me,” added Chanzu.
The MP, however, has challenged Akaranga to declare his stand on who he truly supports. Akaranga has been frequently saying he supports President Uhuru Kenyatta and at other times, he has asserted his support for Mudavadi and his presidential bid. “Akaranga is confused and should set his stand clear,” said Chanzu.
