The IGAD summit has officially kicked off today in Mogadishu Somalia with seven Heads of States in attendance. The summit will tackle South Sudan crisis, the Somalia ongoing election preparations and business cooperations among member states.
This is according to the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia HE Hassan Sheikh Mohamed. “This is a great moment for Somalia, hosting such a high-profile Summit is a clear indication of recognition from the region and the international community on the progress made towards building a new Somalia,” said President Mohamed.
The Somalia president thanked Somali nationals for their commitment to building the nation. The nation of Somalia has experienced growth recently in the security sector hence the reason for hosting the IGAD Summit.
Heads of state in attendance of the Summit are from Republic of Ethiopia, Republic of Somalia, Republic of Sudan, Republic of Uganda, Republic of Kenya, Republic of South Sudan and Republic of Djibouti.
