KCA Vice Chancellor Professor Noah Midamba has lauded Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong for his role in promoting education in the County. “I am not ashamed to say that Ojaamong is the only Governor focused on education in Kenya. I love partnering with him to realize the dreams of Busia people,” he said.
Prof Midamba called on the leaders present including the Anglican Church of Kenya Katakwa Diocese Bishop John Okude to support the Governor whom he said was focused. The VC who was in Amagoro for orientation of its 137 new third trimester students, with an ever-skyrocketing trend of enrolment, said 75 pioneer students will graduate on November 11, 2016.
“We shall have a bash for the new Amagoro graduates on November 19th. I want the Governor to join us for that historic moment,” he said.
The VC also thanked Teso South MP Mary Emaase for sponsoring 124 students to undergo various courses at the KCA Amagoro Campus and urged other leaders to follow suit. Prof Midamba also revealed that KCA Amagoro Campus will receive 250 Government sponsored students for the first time next year.
Campus Director Charles Ramaina said KCA Amagoro Campus started with an initial enrolment of 525 students, adding that the number had since increased to 873. “There is high registration in courses such as Procurement and Logistics management, Human resource management, Education, Business management and Security management. Other numbers are in accounts courses and Project planning. I appeal to political players, especially the Members of parliament in Busia County to heavily invest in offering sponsorship to students to KCA now that the new CDF act has limited the use of funds to Education and security,” he said.
The occasion was graced by the KCAU Chancellor, Professor Arthur Eshiwani and Senior DVC-AA-SM Professor Bagaka. The community was represented by the Bishop Okude of Katakwa Diocese and the secretary general of Teso district Residence association Ishmael Masake.
