Life will significantly change for Chrisostim Wafula Munoko, a father of three from Maeni village, and an owner of a driving school in Kimilili town, won Kshs. 18,357,602 after betting for the jackpot draw with Sportpesa for only one hundred shillings.
Speaking at his home after Sportpesa officials visited him to deliver his cheque, Munoko said he did not expect to win the large sum of money after placing his bet, saying he thanks the Almighty God together with the company saying his life will now change for the better.
He said that part of the money will be donated to his local church, Universal Evangelical Ministries in Kimilili which is still under construction as a way of thanking God for enabling him to win that large amount of money.
“I have been betting for the past one year and did not give up even after many failures, I knew one day I would be able to win and it has come to pass,” said a smiling Munoko.
Mr. Munoko further disclosed that he will also use part of the money to expand his driving school business and also purchase a plot and build rental houses in Kimilili town.
His sentiments were echoed by his wife Noel Werengekha Muchika who thanked God for the blessing in their family saying she had also been trying to bet without success but she is delighted that her husband had been successful.
Noel who works at the Kimilili police station as a secretary to the OCPD says she will support the plans that her husband has for the money saying it will help them to cater for the needs of their family and to educate their children.
Lola Okulo, content editor at Sportpesa who presented the Cheque to Munoko, said betting is real as many who have participated have so far won and advised those who have won large sums of money like Munoko to spend the money wisely to uplift their lives.
However, she said it is meant for leisure and people should consider spending money wisely saying they should not divert the money meant for their daily basic needs to Sportpesa.
She further encouraged those who have previously participated and not won to keep on trying as they may end up winning one day.
“We also offer financial advice for those who have won so that they spend their money well and also for them not to be taken advantage off by other people,” she said.
