A Kegoye Secondary School teacher in Vihiga is in trouble for allegedly abducting a form three student who he has been accused of dating. The student has been missing for the last four weeks, leaving her family in a state of panic.
The student is said to have been sent home over school fees from St. Clares Maragoli High School and was reporting back on 13th September where she reportedly communicated with the teacher via a boda boda rider’s phone, and that’s the last time she was seen.
It is said the suspected teacher, instructed a boda boda rider who was ferrying the student back to school to buy civilian clothes for the student who couldn’t enter the Kegoye school compound in uniform and is alleged to have sneaked her in at night.
The seventeen-year-old has since gone missing and her family’s efforts to locate her have hit a snag. Her mother, Linet Kiseria, said she reported the matter to Mbale Police station and they arrested the suspect, who admitted that he had spent the night with the minor but was later released.
It is alleged investigations are ongoing and the suspect was released under controversial circumstances, yet the minor is still missing. Her mother is crying out for justice and has accused the Mbale police of colluding with various individuals and teachers in terminating the issue.
“As a parent, I feel the teacher should be responsible for the disappearance of my daughter. The police as well are responsible since they have released him and my daughter is nowhere to be seen,” lamented Kiseria, “it’s like they are colluding with him.”
Kiseria has pleaded with the police to trace the minor. She has said she will accept any outcome, whether she is dead or alive. The mother has since fallen sick over the issue.
The county TSC Director Mr. John Bosco Odongo has said the matter is on their desk and his office has launched an investigation into the issue. He said TSC has zero tolerance on sexual abuse on school children.
Meanwhile, Vihiga County Children’s officer Aggrey Mmbwaya has urged the investigative agency to speed up their investigation and nab the suspect.
