Night discos at funerals have been banned in Lugari Sub County. Area Assistant County Commissioner one, Mr. Reuben Kimosop issued the directive when he addressed locals during Mashujaa Day celebrations at Lumakanda Township Primary ground.
Kimosop blamed the night discos for criminal incidents, especially theft and murder, which have recently rocked most parts of the Sub County.
“Whereas most cases of petty theft like stealing of domestic birds occur during night time, recent incidents of violent robbery and murder targeting boda boda operators happened during daytime,” he observed.
The ACC said gangs of criminals were exploiting night discos in funeral occasions to plan before committing robbery and murder and related crime at daytime.
“Anyone who will be caught participating in the outlawed night funeral discos shall be liable for harsh punishment,” warned Kimosop, adding he had instructed area security organs to effect the directive by patrolling funeral places.
The official urged the locals to embrace the Nyumba Kumi and Community Policing initiatives in order to enhance the security of the area.
“Report any crime related incidents to members of the Community Policing and Nyumba Kumi outfits within your villages,” he told hundreds of area residents who gathered at the venue to mark the annual event. Kimosop delivered the President’s speech.
