The Kenya University Staff Union (KUSU) executive committee has urged Education Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang to take stern action against Masinde Muliro University management for alleged continued violation of the law in administering disciplinary measures to its members.
Addressing journalists in Kakamega, the KUSU General secretary Charles Owaya said that the institute’s Vice Chancellor Fredrick Otieno has no merit to continue serving in that office because he does not respect the rule of law.
The VC is accused of failing to reinstate three staff members of the school namely Ronald Wamalwa, Cosmas Ruto and Lydia Nandemo after suspending them for 21 days for allegedly storming into a meeting they had not been invited and spreading false information about the institute.
The executive committee also accused the VC of unprocedural dismissal of other staff members, suspending student’s leadership, roughing up staff around the school among other actions that they want the appointing authority to address immediately.
