The Kenya National Union of Teachers Chairman Wilson Sossion has called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta and all Kenyans to intensify the fight against corruption in the country.
Sossion says that it is high time the nation needs a change, especially in the economic sector and to also ensure all workers in the public sector are treated well with equity without discrimination.
The KNUT boss was speaking in Nairobi on Wednesday saying that salary gaps for employees, not only in the teaching sector, should be reduced to an acceptable ratio in the Country for equality and that the government should facilitate the collective bargaining earlier made by the Trade Union Congress.
According to Sossion, the Unions and Movements in the Country play a big role to the public and therefore contribute fairly to the economy.
KNUT has made various demands to the government on matters concerning corruption and they include, that the Director of Public Prosecution should account to the country in the war against graft and clear all graft allegations that all parliamentary committee findings forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution to be dealt with legally.
Another demand is President Uhuru Kenyatta should address the nation immediately on the war against graft without sparing anyone even those close to him.
The KNUT Chair promised that failure to observe the above will see Trade Union Congress pull out workers in the Public Service and build alliances with other workers to end corruption in the country.
“Let us all rally together and zero down on corruption in the country, we will see a turnaround in the economy,” said Sossion.
He added that fighting graft will ensure that Kenya meets international obligations, vision 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals.
