There was jubilation at Phim School in Kimilili Sub County after it maintained first position in the just released Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination results by the Education cabinet secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i. The school’s director Susan Wekhomba said she was impressed with the performance of the candidates after eight of them scored above 400 marks with the best candidate Bill Khisa scoring 423 marks.
She attributed the success to hard work and discipline witnessed among the school’s stakeholders, saying for a long time now, they have been posting the best results in the Sub County and have currently posted a mean score of 385.56.
The best candidate Bill Khisa said competition among his fellow classmates propelled him to work hard saying he aspires to become a pilot in future saying he will ensure he works hard in high school also so as to achieve his dream.
Elsewhere in Tongaren Sub County at Chema Academy, the jubilation mood was also witnessed with four of the candidates having scored four hundred marks and above.
The school’s director Henry Brown Wanjala said good cooperation among the parents, teachers, and the candidates led to the wonderful results saying the first candidate Samwel Sisela scored 411 marks as the school managed a mean of 358.
Brown who is also the Kenya Private Schools Heads Association chairman in Bungoma County, said the examination exercise was carried out very well.
He also applauded the new program set up by the Cabinet secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i of having the students report to form one earlier than in the previous years and called upon parents to work hard and have enough school fees for their children.
The situation was also the same at Grace way preparatory school at Ambich in Tongaren Sub County as the first student scored 405 marks and the school posted a mean score of 363 with the school’s director Martin Wekesa saying it is the best the school has ever achieved.
He called upon parents to take their children’s studies seriously and ensure they invest in them getting the best foundation in education as it will be the best inheritance they can offer to them.
