Tension was high in Kapsasur, Kiptuiya ward Nandi county following the brutal killing of a 28-year-old man by unknown assailants. Residents of Kapsasur and Kaptobongen took to the streets to protest against the recent murder cases of residents that have been witnessed in the area.
They protested along the Kapsabet-Chavakali road at Kapsasur trading centres where they blocked the road and paralyzed transport services for hours before security intervened and cleared the road.
The residents decried the poor security in the area which has resulted in the death of youths in a period of two months, and they appealed to the government to intervene.
It is alleged that the deceased who is a boda boda operator on Kapsabet-Kapsasur road was found murdered and his body dumped beside the road.
His murder comes after another youth was murdered at Denja trading centre and his body dumped at a homestead of a person.
Nandi county police Commander Sylvarino Kubai together with other county security officers who visited the scene of the crime calmed the angry protesters assuring them that the suspects of the serial killings will be brought to book.
The body was taken to Kapsabet Referral hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
