Politicians in Vihiga County hell-bent on using hate speech and propaganda to win votes have been warned to stop the practice.
Vihiga County Commissioner Mrs Pauline Dola, speaking during Jamhuri Celebrations that were held at Vihiga Municipal Grounds, cautioned politicians in the area to cease from propagating hate speech during their campaigns.
She said as the country approaches the election period, politicians take advantage to spread hate speech that brings chaos and disorder in the Country.
“I want to pass a strong message to politicians not only from this county but even those from other areas. They should be careful about their utterances, which can bring chaos in the region,” she said.
Dolla has also banned ‘disco matangas’ which she says creates room for crime to thrive in the region especially at night.
She asked parents to be on the look out and take care of their children during this festive season, given that this will help to curb child trafficking which may erupt during this time.
Area Governor Moses Akaranga said he has had positive talks with health medics on how they can resume duty.
“Am assuring the residents that all medics are going to resume duty before the end of this week considering the fact that most of the locals have suffered during this period,” Akaranga said.
He said it was their right to strike noting that during this time residents have suffered and most have felt the weight of heavy costs while seeking health services at private hospitals.
