President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto opened the first phase of Pan Paper mill, to the delight of Webuye residents. The president lauded the Ministry of Industrialization, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources for working hard to ensure the intended phase is up and running.
The President said opening the mill will provide job opportunities, with an estimated five hundred youths being employed, as residents wait for the second phase to be opened next year.
President Kenyatta said they have done a lot of projects in Bungoma County and in the Western region at large in terms of infrastructure, delivering health equipment to Bungoma Referral Hospital.
He asked the residents of Bungoma County to support his government and vote for Jubilee party, saying they deserve another term as they have delivered many promises, citing that they have taken care of national examination fees too.
However, he lashed out at the opposition for using propaganda in order to gain a political mileage, “Some self proclaimed leaders have decided to spread propaganda, claiming the Jubilee government belongs to only two tribes,” he said, “That’s rubbish, where do Eugene Wamalwa and Judy Wakhungu come from?”
President Kenyatta also warned the management of Nzoia Sugar Company to keep off corrupt actions, saying the money given to them by the government needs to be utilized well to benefit sugarcane farmers.
He promised former workers at Panpaper that they’ll receive three months salary, “We are aware that former employees were never paid their dues, and the government will cater for that,” he said.
Bungoma County governor Ken Lusaka appreciated efforts made by the national government to advance development in the county, including giving out title deeds to residents in Chepyuk in Mt. Elgon.
His sentiments were echoed by Bungoma Women Representative Dr. Reginalda Wanyonyi who said residents of Bungoma will vote for the Jubilee party due to its track record when it comes to development in the county and the region as a whole.
