As the country heads toward 2017 general elections, Kakamega aspirant for the gubernatorial seat, Mrs. Mable Muruli has called upon women and youth countrywide to register in large numbers in order to elect credible leaders.
Speaking at Lumakanda Township playground in Lugari Sub County where she was the chief guest during finals for
National Constituency Development Fund (NCDF) sponsored football tournament Muruli, who has hit the ground in an attempt to popularize her candidature, encouraged women aspirants to run for all elective seats, besides the constitutionally enshrined county women representative.
“Research has proved women in leadership positions have immensely contributed in turning around fortunes of the society the world over,” noted the United States (US) based businesswoman Marble Muruli, who promised to economically transform Kakamega County if elected as governor.
She urged eligible Kenyans who were yet to register as voters to do so during the second mass voter registration exercise that will kick off in January.
Though Muruli is yet to formally announce her party of choice, political pundits have linked her to Jubilee Party.
Kakamega governor seat, which is currently being held by Mr. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, has already attracted eyes of several aspirants including, Senator Boni Khalwale, Professor Amukoa Anangwe, former County Executive Suleiman Sumba and Muruli.
Lugari Member of Parliament (MP), Mr. Ayub Savula was present at the football extravaganza, which saw Lugari ward women’s team and Chekalini men’s team emerge victorious.
Lugari United ladies defeated Lwandeti 5:4 on post-match penalties, while Chekalini’s Red Eagles edged out Lwandeti’s Maturu Soccer Club on a solitary goal in the men finals.
