Friends school Kamusinga, one of the national schools in Bungoma County, highlighted its might in the just released results of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) after posting a mean grade of 9.628 and producing the best candidate in the County who scored an A.
The school’s principal Edwin Namachanja said despite the fact the mean grade dropped from the previous year, when the school posted a mean grade of 10.2, they are contented with the results with the break down as follows 1 A plain, A- scored are 76, B+ scored are 62, B are 44,B- are 21,C+ scored 14, C are 7,D+ is 1.
He said they have maintained the overall mean score of B+ and are looking forward to improving the results in next year’s results saying together with other stakeholders in the school they will make sure they have made it as one of the best schools in the country.
At St Luke’s Kimilili boys high school the celebration mood was also felt after 210 candidates out of 359 managed to get a direct entry to university after scoring the minimum grade required of C+ and above as the principal Patrick Wandili attributed the success to cooperation and hard work among the stakeholders.
He disclosed that they had A- 7, B+ 19, B 45, B- 66, C+ 73, C 69, C- 50,D+ 20,D 10 saying despite the huge population they managed a 58% pass with a mean grade of 6.9 saying they are also looking forward to improve on the results in next year’s results.
He further applauded the strategies put in place by the education cabinet secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i to curb cheating in the examinations saying it has shown a true reflection of what the candidates deserve to get in the examination.
At Chesamisi high school the school principal John Wakwabubi who is also the chairman of the secondary schools’ heads association in Kimilili sub County also was contented with the results having posted a mean score of 7.325 with 193 candidates having scored a mean grade of c+ and above hence qualifying for a direct entry for admission to public university.
The breakdown is A- scored are 5, B+ grades are 35, B plain grades 43,B- grades 55,C+ grades 55, C plain grades 52, C- grades 35, D+ grades scored are 13, D 1, D- 1 .
Mr. Wakwabubi also applauded the efforts and strategies put in place by education cabinet secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i and other stakeholders in the education sector to curb issues of cheating saying it has opened an avenue to deserving students to pursue courses in the university.
