The Justice and Legal Affairs Committee has approved the nomination of Wafula Chebukati as the head of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and retired Anglican Archbishop Eliud Wabukala as the head of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
According to the team, Wafula Chebukati hasn’t been tapped in any issues that may have pointed to a lack of integrity, while also maintaining that he has sufficient knowledge on administration and management issues. Wafula Chebukati will take over along with six other candidates.
On the other hand, former ACK archbishop Eliud Wabukala is supposed to replace former boss Philip Kinisu who resigned, after a family company was implicated in the NYS scandal which was under ongoing investigation at the time last year. The committee was convinced with Wabukala’s capacity for the job, citing that he definitely knows what he is getting into.
