Amani National Congress (ANC) Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi has said President Uhuru Kenyatta is reacting cowardly to critics saying he is deliberately misreading criticism in order to demonize the opposition.
He said there is nothing in CORD leader Raila Odinga’s statement that threatens to lead to violence and warned Jubilee not to plant seeds of violence.
Mudavadi said the CORD leader is merely being a good and responsible citizen to alert the President noting that Uhuru should instead thank Raila for sound advice.
“For instance, when I tell Uhuru to abandon the scheme to rig elections through the issuance of one ID to multiple holders, and warn him that it may cause unrest is not bad,” Mudavadi said.
He, however, said President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reaction is typical of heads of regime who are past their date. The ANC leader said when such regimes sense defeat, they resort to intimidating, threatening and unorthodox means including trumped up charges, “I do hope it was a slip of the tongue and not a Jubilee plot to curtail constitutional freedom and rights under the pretext of cracking down on hate speech. Indeed, if there are candidates for hate speech, the Jubilee brigade leads the herd and should be in jail,” said Mudavadi.
