Leaders are urging Water CS Eugene Wamalwa to join the Trans Nzoia county gubernatorial race, instead of the Nairobi hot seat. Women Rep. Janet Nangabo and Bungoma County Governor Ken Lusaka have appealed to the CS to contest for the Trans Nzoia County top job.
According to Governor Lusaka, the two can work together once he is re-elected as Bungoma governor, and given that the counties are neighbours, the two can work together to elevate the lives of residents.
Water CS Eugene Wamalwa was expected to make an official announcement during the weekend regarding his next move but he failed to do so, when residents had converged for the burial of his aunt, leaving many wondering what his next move might be.
CS Wamalwa avoided any political talk and promised his supporters that he will make hs move known in the next one week, given that he has had to deal with a lot of pressure concerning his political life. “I want to tell my supporters that even though you were expecting an announcement concerning my political career today, that won’t happen since we’re still in mourning,” he said.
On her part, Trans Nzoia Women Rep. Janet Nangabo said CS Wamalwa is the only leader who could bring about development in the county, adding that the residents are tired of poor leadership in the county.
Her sentiments were echoed by Saboti MP David Lazaro and Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama who urged the Water CS to contest for the gubernatorial position in Trans Nzoia.
They said they don’t want to answer questions on CS Wamalwa’s future anymore, and he should inform the public his intentions himself. Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama said he was initially opposed to the idea of CS Wamalwa contesting for the governor seat, but the public demand has made him change his mind.
