IEBC have released the voter registration tally, with Counties that have the highest registration applications and top Counties with the best registration percentage when measured against the upper target of 6 million set by the commission revealed. Kakamega County recorded the highest tally of voter applications in the former Western province, with a tally of 114,126 registered voters. There have been 3,782,089 applications for registration, “Which represents 62 percent of the IEBC upper limit target of 6 million and 95 percent of the lower limit we set of 4 million,” said IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati.

The Counties which recorded the highest number of registration applications, with numbers ranging from 100,000 on the lower part to 460,000 on the upper part, include Nairobi, Kiambu, Nakuru, Meru, Mombasa, Kilifi, Machakos, Kakamega, Murang’a, and Uasin Gishu. Nairobi leads with the highest tally of applications, with 461,346 registered voters, followed by Kiambu at 225, 995.
Counties which lead when it comes to percentage taken against the upper limit target of 6 million include Kajiado at 240 percent, followed by Mandera, Narok, Garissa, Kirinyaga, Kiambu, Wajir, Murang’a, Nakuru and West Pokot. On voter transfer applications, there have been more than a million transfers, “We have recognized that there are some places in Kenya where the voter transfer number was higher than voter registration tally,” said Wafula Chebukati, as he addressed the press in Nairobi.
