Opposition leaders have officially signed a deal to set the NASA train rolling. Party presidential aspirants Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula, came together to sign the deal on Wednesday in Nairobi, with the announcement of the flag bearer set for a later date. Raila Odinga said the party has been formed for a purpose, “It’s a product of historical circumstances,” he said, adding that the coalition brings together all people all over the country. “We will continue to struggle for the liberation of our people, so that Kenya can have what the founding fathers of the nation dreamt of,” he said.
He said that the coalition will ensure that the youth are liberated and empowered, and also employed. Raila Odinga said that they will work to ensure that tribalism is dealt with, “We will ensure that one’s name doesn’t determine if he gets a job or not,” he said.
Musalia Mudavadi said that the coalition is not a violent movement, “We stand for peace, but in that peaceful process we must get our rights,” he said. He said the should ensure there are free and fair elections, “IEBC must come clean and tell us if they are really ready to oversee free and fair elections,” he said, “They need to tell us whether they intend to be heroes in the process they manage the elections.”
NASA’s first public function will be in Eldoret on Saturday, and Raila Odinga invited Kenyans to attend the rally.
