Jubilee Party leadership in Bungoma County has expressed its optimism that the party will scoop majority of the seats in the County in the forthcoming General elections.
In a press Conference held in Bungoma town, the party officials under their branch spokesperson Kennedy Cheshari said that they had laid down enough strategies that would see the party improve its popularity index in the county and the region.
Cheshari noted that his team had come up to fill the void that was there in leadership, terming his team as non-partisan and not biased towards any politician.
“This is a fresh start, with fresh minds that aim to see the party grow and expand its base,” Cheshari said. He hailed the leadership of Bungoma County Governor Ken Lusaka, who was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to lead the Jubilee manifesto in the region, though he added that he needed a perfectly working team behind him to achieve viability, something he said his office is committed to realize. “I want to admit that the party has a leader in Governor Ken Lusaka, who is doing a lot to stand in the gap for the party, but he cannot realize his full potential because he lacks a committed team behind him, and that is what we are offering.”
He regretted the perception that the lack of an office in the county had created, citing the deputy President’s hostile reception in Bungoma as an example, which he said was owed to the lack of a serious team to prepare for the deputy head of state’s visit, adding that with his team, such incidences won’t be repeated.
The party Organising Secretary Idel Queen Nanjala expressed her belief that her team was up to the task to see President Uhuru Kenyatta win the forthcoming elections for his second term as President.
“Jubilee Party is the best direction there is to head to. This is the party of the people, by the people and for the people,’’ Nanjala said, “I want to urge the people of Bungoma County not to even think twice about joining and supporting the party, as there is no other party that has the people’s interests at heart as Jubilee has.”
Her sentiments were echoed by Aden Kapchanga, the branch secretary who called upon the youth in the region to support the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
“I am a youth, and a proud one because of this party (Jubilee) and I want to take this opportunity to urge my fellow youth to follow my unregrettable path,” he said. The meeting was also attended by elders from various sub counties in the county.
