NASA Co-principal Raila Odinga has said that the opposition party is still unsure about the state of IEBC preparedness in terms of ICT infrastructure, and cleanliness of the register. “We may not be talking about 19.5 million voters because they don’t know how many dead voters there are on the register,” he said, “They don’t know how many people are double registered.”
While addressing the press before heading to Meru County, Raila Odinga said Kenyans want to go to the polls with a clean register and proper infrastructure. He indicated that there is a collusion in the electoral body, “There is a collusion with the executive, not the commissioners. That’s where we need proper house cleaning, otherwise, we may have a problem going forward.”
He added that the party has no strategic planning with their tours, with the Meru and Tharaka Nithi trips coming after a weekend rally held in Eldoret, perceived as Jubilee strongholds. He refuted these claims and added that they are targeting Kenyans, citing an example of youths who don’t look at ethnicity but real issues. “It’s wrong to classify parts of the country as Jubilee or NASA strongholds,” he said, “There is no county that is predominantly supporting either parties.”
The opposition leader has urged people to be patient with the newly formed NASA, adding that the party needs to be introduced and assimilated properly before final assessments are done.
