Police in Lugari Sub County have launched investigation into a robbery with violence incident after armed thugs attacked a Butali Sugar Company Weighing Bridge at Chekalini and made away with property valued at over Kshs. 300, 000.
Confirming the incident, Lugari sub county criminal investigation officer Mr. Bakari Ndzovu said a gang of about six men armed with crude weapons invaded the cane weighbridge collection yard at around 3am attacked four guards who were on duty and tied them with sisal ropes
before they proceeded to the management residential within the yard.
The SCCIO said the thugs managed to gain entry into the house through the kitchen window where they robbed Messrs Sures Kumar, Abdal Ruzak, Robin Kumar, Ashraf Khan and Mohamed Khan, all of Asian origin.
He said the robbers made away with assorted electronics including phone, cash Kshs. 145,000, US dollars 290, all valued at Kshs. 356,500.
The victims who sustained minor injuries were treated at Mediheal hospital in Eldoret and discharged in stable condition. Bakari said police have launched a manhunt for the suspects who are still at large.
