The Labour party of Kenya today unveiled the National Elections Board and the Appeals Panel members who shall oversee the party nominations slated for 26th of this month. During the unveiling, LPK party chairman Ababu Namwamba said the opposition party NASA have attempted to use their party symbol. He said they have filed the issue with the registrar of political parties, a formal objection, against the attempt by NASA to adopt their duly registered party symbol, the star, “I hope they are working on it,” Namwamba said.
Ababu Namwamba condemned strongly the ugly scenes that were witnessed in Migori County during the ODM rally. “We strongly condemn the emergence of political violence, especially the one witnessed in Migori, we urge the concerned political party, and the law enforcement agencies to apply the full force of the law,” Namwamba said.
The Party chairman Ababu Namwamba urged the aspirants not to engage in violent actions. “Any misconduct or breaches of the party regulations and the law of the land will lead to severe sanctions or disqualifications,” said Namwamba. He asked the other parties to respect IEBC and the constitution of Kenya.
The party deputy chairman Esther Kondo said that the two crucial selected teams, The National Elections Board and Appeals Panel, have been taken through a two day induction retreat to enable them to execute their mandate effectively.
“Our party is committed to a free, fair, and credible election at all levels. We urge the elections board to serve with honor, dignity, and credibility,” said Esther Kondo.
She urged all the aspirants across the country to conduct themselves within the constitution of the party and the laws of the land.
