Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong took his campaigns to his home turf of Teso South with an appeal to residents to support him during the ODM primaries.
Addressing residents of Adongos Market in Chakol South Ward, the Governor said his race to seek nominations for the party ticket is not in vain.
Exuding confidence of carrying the day, Ojaamong said he has the backing of all ODM MCAs, MP aspirants in Budalangi, Matayos, Nambale, Teso North and Teso South to confirm his pivotal position in the contest.
“I am appealing to voters across the county to conduct the polls peacefully and elect leaders whom they have confidence in, including me, to steer the county to greater heights,” he said.
The leaders including sitting MCAs Stephen Ekapolon of Jubilee, Solomon Onyango (Federal Party of Kenya) and Romanus Orengo (ODM) declared their support for Ojaamong’s re-election.
Busia County representative Judith Odeda from Samia Sub County predicted Ojaamong’s clear win against Otuoma whom she said should have allowed the Governor to complete his two terms.
Earlier, ODM delegates from Teso South who converged at Akukuranut Development Trust unanimously declared their support for Ojaamong’s re-election.
Teso South Council of elders chairman Santolino Etori said there is a “syndicate” to ensure no seat goes to the Teso region despite an agreement in 2012 that gave Teso region the Governor’s seat.
Residents lined up along the route where the Governor’s convoy passed carrying portraits of the Governor and their preferred candidates.
