Emuhaya MP Wilber Otichillo has said that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party gave ticket him a direct ticket to run for the gubernatorial seat because no one offered himself to challenge him in the coming nominations.

The MP refuted claims that those given direct nomination tickets were favored by the top party brass for their loyalty to the party. “My opponents feared me and therefore no one was willing to challenge me. All those given party tickets by ODM party had no competitors,” he said.

He said that there were politicians who were spreading falsehood that the party is not democratic because they were given direct tickets.

The MP was speaking at National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) conference hall during the issuance of bursary cheques to students who applied for the fund.

He said that he had disbursed Kshs 25 million to students in various schools, colleges and universities to cushion their parents from hard economic times and improve education standards in the area.

Otichillo said road network and school infrastructure in the area had been improved during his two terms as MP and added that if he becomes governor he will make sure the whole county has good roads.

He added that when he became MP, Only 50 students had a grade of C+ and above but now they have improved and more than 300 have a mean grade of C+ and above after paying fees for needy and bright students.

The Emuhaya MP also said that he was voted number one for using NG-CDF in an excellent manner which he will replicate it in the whole county when he becomes the governor.
