The Nandi County Primary Schools ball games team received a heroic welcome from Governor Dr Cleophas Lagat at Kipchoge Keino stadium in Kapsabet after clinching the national titles in volleyball, football, and handball.
The team led by their chairperson Peter Sang, team manager David Rugut, and the Patron Daniel Korir arrived at Kapsabet town, the county headquarters of Nandi, and presented four trophies to the Governor.
Speaking after the colourful reception, the team manager Rugut applauded the efforts of the team for their victory which has put Nandi on the map of ball games, urging them to maintain the same spirit in future competitions.
They thanked the governor for the full support he gave the team and said it’s because of that, that they managed to emerge victorious.
While addressing the team, the governor promised to accomplish the facelift of Kipchoge Keino stadium before the August general elections in bide to help them train and identify their talents wisely.
He cited that the stadium is in the second phase of completion and is being supervised by the International Association of Athletics Federation and will assist athletes from Nandi to train there.
