Residents of Bondeni village of Nzoia location in Likuyani Sub County were treated to a rude shock after a pig belonging to the area Chief Josphat Edambo delivered multi-deformed piglets.

Two out of the twelve piglets had conjoined head, which had two eyes, four ears, eight limbs and shared one stomach.

According to Mr Edambo this was the sixth time his pig has delivered and that he hadn’t witnessed any abnormalities in the first five deliveries and that its piglets had matured into mature pigs.

“I have kept pigs for over 20 years and for all this time I haven’t witnessed any abnormalities, this is the first time I am witnessing such and for this pig, I have stayed with it close to ten years and it has sired six times and in fact, some of its offspring have already
given birth,” said chief Edambo.

He said despite the deformed piglets being huge than the rest, the mother pig did not have any difficulties during delivery.

The incident attracted hundreds of residents who thronged the local administrator’s home to catch a glimpse of the deformed creature with a section of them attempting to superstitiously interpret the rare occurrence, with some believing it was a sign of good tidings for chief Edambo’s family others have been heard attributing it to dark designs.

However, Edambo was quick to play off any attribution to superstition or satanism arguing that pigs give birth according to the number of teats they have, whereby, in this case, the mother pig has ten teats and it has never given birth to more than ten piglets.

He said the deformed piglets lacked space in the womb thus leading to the deformity and there wasn’t anything satanic in relation to the deformity.
