Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba has revealed plans to tackle ODM in Busia County so that they cannot secure even a Member of the County Seat across the County.
Speaking in Funyula, Ababu claimed that a seven-member board including himself, Busia Senator Amos Wako (ODM), Funyula MP Paul Otuoma (Independent), Engineer Dan Barasa (Jubilee), Humphrey Nakitare (Amani National Congress), Lucas Meso and Engineer Vincent Sidai has been constituted to ensure ODM is locked out of the County.
“We are going to have one Luhya candidate to face Ojaamong on August 8th. Whether Raila will back him or not ‘Ojaamong must fall’, ” Ababu said.
Ababu told the Samia people that he will support Otuoma’s gubernatorial bid if they back President Uhuru Kenyatta to retain his seat. He dismissed the six-piece voting method ODM is advocating for.
However, Engineer Barasa when contacted on phone dismissed Ababu’s claims saying he had no knowledge of the existence of any anti-Raila and Ojaamong board saying he will never be a party to such arrangements.
”I am prepared to battle it out for the gubernatorial ticket on Jubilee ticket without anybody’s support. I cannot also step down for any other candidate. See me on the ballot on August 8th,” he said.
Eng. Sidai also dismissed Ababu’s claims saying he had not been approached by anybody. ”I cannot be a running mate of Otuoma. It is Otuoma who should be my running mate and not the other way round.
If the scenario will remain the way it is then I will not be on the ballot in August. I am comfortable with what I am doing at the moment,” Eng. Sidai said on phone.
Contacted Wako said he is not aware of the purported schemes by Ababu. “I am in ODM and he is not in the Orange party. He should not drag me into matters I am not aware,” he said.
Meso and Nakitare could also not be reached for comment.
