The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) in Nandi County has met with all the aspiring candidates for various elective seats from across the entire County. The Commission led by the County Elections manager Mrs Catherine Bulinda, met the aspirants for consultations on issues pertaining the elections ahead of the submission of nomination papers. The candidates were asked to strictly adhere to the election rules, as failure to do so will lead to disqualification.
The IEBC pre-nomination meeting was held at St Peters Catholic Hall in Emgwen constituency and various leaders including incumbent senator Stephen Sang who is vying for the gubernatorial seat, Jubilee senatorial candidate Samson Cherargei and the Jubilee County woman representative candidate Tecla Chebet Songok attended the meeting. Speaking to the press after the meeting, the three candidates expressed their satisfaction with the plans put by the electoral commission to ensure the general elections are free and fair.
They appealed to the commission to ensure that the nationwide voter verification process takes place even at the grassroots level, to cater for those who can’t access the exercise in their jurisdictive areas.
Furthermore, they urged all members of the public who registered as voters to go to the polling centres and verify their details in order to ensure their details are in order ahead of the elections. They called upon the residents to vote for the Jubilee government for the second time.
