President Uhuru Kenyatta has said the demand for maize flour is still high but admitted that maize flour is available. While addressing Donholm residents in Nairobi as he headed to KICC to present his official documents for IEBC verification, President Kenyatta assured Kenyans that the issue of flour is sorted. “I don’t like propaganda,” he said, “The truth is that maize flour is available, but because of the low price we have introduced, the demand has increased.” The President said that from tomorrow, more flour will start trickling in, “We want every Kenyan to have sufficient flour because we don’t want hunger in our country.”
He said that the government decided to reduce the flour prices because they didn’t want to see Kenyans suffering, “Because of the drought that we experienced, we decided that even though we hadn’t prepared well for this, no Kenyan should suffer.”
He lauded the Jubilee government, saying that they are not established on propaganda. He said that as a result, they gave Kenyans and Nairobi residents the chance to choose who they want as Jubilee aspirants in a democratic way, “We gave you the freedom to choose here in Nairobi and you decided that you want Mike Sonko to lead you as Governor in Nairobi,” he said, adding that residents also democratically chose Johnson Sakaja and Charles Njagua ‘Jaguar’.
Deputy President William Ruto thanked Nairobi residents for coming out to escort them to KICC. He said that victory belongs to Jubilee in the general elections, citing that their opponents know that, “If you see Wetangula going to vie for the Senatorial seat, then they know Uhuru Kenyatta will be President come August,” he said.
