Leaders in Trans Nzoia County who are vying for various seats have been urged to promote the message of peace and avoid using the youth to gain political mileage. Speaking during the Madaraka Day celebrations at Kitale’s Agricultural Showground, Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Anne Gakuria said that politicians who will propagate hate and divisions amongst the County residents will face dire consequences.
The County Commissioner expressed her dissatisfaction with how politics is shaping up in Endebess constituency, after the recent scuffle between supporters of Robert Pukose and Alwin Sasia, where several were hospitalized.
The County Commissioner appealed to the youth to desist from being used wrongly by politicians. She defended the government’s track record, saying it’s manifested in the whole country, and she urged Kenyans to support President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto.
The supporters of Governor Patrick Khaemba didn’t take the message lightly, however, and they jeered. Governor Khaemba calmed them down and went on to criticize the government for procuring what he termed as fake fertilizer.
He said Trans Nzoia County is an agricultural County and the government released fertilizer which isn’t good for the soil, thus, farmers have incurred losses.
Furthermore, he appealed to politicians to preach peace during this campaign period, promising to do the same with his supporters.
Kiminini MP Dr Chris Wamalwa called upon the citizens of the County to vote out the Jubilee Government which he said is riddled with corruption and vote for NASA, saying they will restore their hope. He expressed his optimism that the opposition under Raila Odinga will win the presidential seat by a landslide.
