Nandi Senator Stephen Sang has dismissed reports that he will sack all the civil servants working under the County government if he takes over the gubernatorial office after the August polls. Speaking to members of the fourth estate in his office, Sang blamed the outgoing Nandi administration for engaging in a witch hunt and tribalism, and he assured workers that nobody will be sacked.
He explained that the people who will lose their jobs are the ones who took part in corruption and those under investigation by EACC. The Senator said he will ensure Nandi County government serves all the people and will not tolerate cartels who had looted funds meant for development projects.
He further said the incumbent Governor Cleophas Lagat should promote team work among Nandi County leaders and allow a smooth transition to take place in August. He added that the Governor together with the public service board should stop the illegal employment of staff since there was no budget allocation for them.
He revealed that no employment should be conducted as we head towards the elections as it is illegal blaming the outgoing administration for embarking on a massive scheme to employ some of their political supporters. The Jubilee gubernatorial nominee cited that the law is very clear that for one to employ staff on a permanent and contract basis, it must be based on the law and follow merit in that procedure.
He added that status quo should be maintained until the new administration takes over asking the outgoing governor to stop polarising the County.
