A cloud of mourning enveloped Kiwanja Ndege village, in Lugari Sub County after a decomposing body of a 42-year-old man was found dangling from a tree inside Lugari forest after he allegedly committed suicide.
Confirming the incident Lugari location Chief Evans Adavaji said the body was discovered by a herdsman who was grazing animals inside the forest after the deceased went missing since Friday last week.
He said the herdsman spotted leaves and slippers under a cypress tree and when he looked up he saw the body hanging on one of the branches with a piece of cloth on the neck before he alerted villagers and the administration.
“We rushed to scene together with police and at first, we could not identify him but on looking keenly after he had been brought down we established was Allan Mafuoli Onyango from Kiwanja Ndege village,” he said.
The chief said the reason that made the deceased to commit suicide in such a cruel way had not been established adding that police have launched an investigation into the incident.
However, a close family member who spoke to West media on condition of anonymity revealed that the victim had a disturbing issue with his family which he declined to make public adding that he had in the past attempted suicide unsuccessfully.
Elsewhere at Mapengo village in the neighbouring Chekalini location, another man aged 28 also committed suicide by hanging himself after quarrelling with his wife over a phone conversation.
It’s alleged that the deceased Caleb Omulombi found his wife talking on the phone with another man at night and demanded to know who the wife was talking to but the wife switched off her phone and denied him access to it.
The two engaged in fighting before the wife parked her belonging and left vowing never to return forcing the man to commit suicide. His body was discovered hanging on a tree in their farm. The two bodies were removed to Webuye mortuary.
