As political campaigns take centre stage, residents of Kamukuywa ward in Kimilili constituency have been urged to be keen to elect leaders that will be able to deliver fully the requirements of the tasks detailed in the posts they are vying for.
Peter Tisi Wekesa, a Federal Party of Kenya MCA aspirant, said the residents in the area have lagged behind in development due to poor leadership saying he is inspired to lead them towards development and asked the residents to support his bid.
He added that there are several projects that were initiated in the ward like a multi-million water project that was to be completed two years ago but up to date, residents are still suffering due to lack of the precious commodity, an issue that has caused many of them to suffer from water borne diseases.
Mr Tisi also expressed his dissatisfaction with how the County bursaries were disbursed in the ward saying many children who are orphans and needy are usually left out yet they should be given priority.
He said in providing an alternative leadership, he will be able to have committee members of the bursary represented from each village as it will be a sure way of having all the needy children benefit from the kitty.
He said he will ensure the funds provided by the County government to fund projects of youths and women trickle down up to the grassroot level saying many have been able to form groups but have not benefitted since such funds were initiated.
However, in this campaign period, he urged his fellow candidates to carry out peaceful campaigns saying it will be upon the electorates themselves to choose a leader that they are sure will be able to carry out his or her duties diligently.
He further said with FPK being in the NASA coalition they are also looking forward to an alternative leadership in the country, saying Kenyans have really suffered due to the high cost of living and skyrocketing of prices of basic food commodities.
