Trans Nzoia County Governor Patrick Khaemba has urged Trans Nzoia residents to vote for him in the August General Elections, to enable him to complete projects that his government began since he was elected in 2013 as the first Governor.
Speaking in West Fm studios, Governor Khaemba revealed that his government gave healthcare a priority and the construction of a three hundred and fifty-bed capacity Teaching and Referral Hospital is underway. He listed more projects including renovating sub-county hospitals including Endebess, Kapsara, Saboti, Matunda and Kiminini, installing Oxygen plant at Kitale County Hospital, acquiring a transport truck for distributing drugs across the county, employing additional four hundred and sixty-six health personnel and renovating fourteen health facilities including Chepchoina, Bidii, Namanjala, Bikeke, Lukhone, Weona among others.
“We decided to do all these by giving healthcare a priority so that our people can access affordable, high quality and reliable health facilities and care,” said Khaemba.
He stated that when elected for the second term he will ensure that the started projects are accomplished for instance construction at least two dispensaries in each ward, the establishment of a county-owned medical training college and hiring more health care personnel to address the shortage.
He furthered his sentiments that his government doubled access to clean and safe water where he purchased two drilling rigs and drilled 33 boreholes and constructed nine water storage tanks among others.
“We have tried to ensure that Trans Nzoia people get clean and safe water to avoid water borne diseases that is why we decided to construct storage tanks and more will be done when I resume office again for the second term,” he added.
He said that due to the fact that many Kenyans depend on Trans Nzoia County when it comes to maize production, they’ve invested in the distribution of subsidized fertilizer to farmers both planting fertilizer and top dressing and this has enabled farmers to increase their yields.
“Many depend on Trans Nzoia when it comes to maize production countrywide, therefore I ensured that farmers get subsidized fertilizer both for planting and top dressing to help get consistent and enough maize production,” he said.
Governor Khaemba stated that he has also constructed 120 ECDE classrooms in all wards, hired caregivers to all the ECDE Centres in the county, rehabilitated 341 ward sports fields.
He said that he has assisted 5000 residents to get their land title deeds and more are being processed awaiting issuance by the national government.
He, however, told Trans Nzoia residents to gauge all aspirants and know who they will vote for and urged his opponents to campaign peacefully and stop using abusive language.
“As the campaigning period has kicked off I urge my opponents to use their own means to woo voters instead of misusing my name, abusing me instead of telling voters their manifesto. As voters, take your time and weigh the leaders then decide who you’ll vote for without being forced to do so with people who want power with greedy interests,” asserted Khaemba.
