NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga has said that the food shortage in the country is a direct result of the Jubilee government’s negligence. While addressing Kiminini residents in Trans Nzoia during the opposition coalition’s tour, Raila Odinga said the government ignored concerns, “The government leaders were notified last year that due to the poor weather, the yields will be poor, and were told to import maize,” he said, adding that Deputy President William Ruto ignored the calls and insisted maize is totally available. “This food strain in the country at the moment has been caused by Jubilee,” he insisted.
He reaffirmed that free education will be provided if NASA takes over after the general elections, “By September, all children in Kenya from nursery to Form Four will have their fees catered for. The uniforms, pens, all will be catered for, the children will just have to avail themselves for classes,” he said.
Furthermore, the opposition leader refused to budge on claims that the military officers will be used to rig elections, “The Jubilee leaders said that it was just preparation training before the elections. Which training requires Kenyans to be taken to the barracks?” he posed, “All those who are known as regional coordinators were taken to Embakasi barracks, and they are taught how to rig elections.”
