Residents of Tongaren and Kimilili constituencies have been called upon to turn out in large numbers on August 8th, 2017 to vote in the NASA coalition leaders to run the government to redeem the country from a myriad of challenges it is facing.
Speaking at various stopovers in Tongaren and Kimilili constituencies in their meet the people tour, NASA coalition principals led by Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka said Kenyans are suffering due to various challenges they are experiencing that include shortage of maize flour.
He lashed at the Jubilee government for importing maize from Mexico insinuating that the maize is not fit for human consumption but the government is still purchasing more and grinding it ready for consumers.
Hon Kalonzo further called upon residents to form a five-member committee at each polling station which will be in charge of ensuring all the registered voters at the polling station turn up to vote and who will also ensure that votes are not rigged.
However, he cautioned candidates in NASA-affiliated parties not to clash saying it will give an opportunity for candidates in rival parties to ascend to power which he said will be a disadvantage to the coalition given that they aim to garner as many seats as possible.
He expressed his satisfaction with the court’s ruling that presidential votes will be announced at the constituency level and will be final as it has always been, adding that they are optimistic of garnering as many votes as possible and they should not be interfered with.
Musalia Mudavadi on his part rubbished claims that the NASA coalition is looking forward to forming a coalition government with the Jubilee government saying Kenyans are tired of the current government and are in serious need of change.
He said their team is comprised of experienced politicians and are prepared to take over the government and implement positive transformation to Kenyans that include tarmacking the Misikhu-Brigadier road which he says cannot be constructed since it has not been budgeted for.
Siaya senator James Orengo said the Jubilee government has not performed according to Kenyans’ expectations and must pave way for the NASA coalition to take over the government, sentiments that were echoed by nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro who called upon residents to ensure they come out in large numbers to vote on the Election Day.
Kiminini legislator Chris Wamalwa assured the residents that with Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi in the NASA coalition from western Kenya the region is assured of getting a share in the government as opposed to the Jubilee government.
The team later converged at Posta grounds in Bungoma town to address residents where they met with another NASA team led by Raila Odinga and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula.
