Webuye West Ford Kenya candidate Peter Juma Sitati who is eyeing the Webuye West parliamentary seat in the forthcoming general elections has castigated opponents who have resorted to buying voters’ IDs in areas perceived to be his stronghold after sensing defeat.
While addressing residents at Nambalayi village in Sitikho, Sitati said he has enough evidence that Jubilee and ODM politicians are giving out Kshs 2000 and Kshs 4000 in exchange for IDs. He said it’s an election offence that IEBC should deal with, “Some politicians have sensed defeat and have decided defeat and have decided to buy IDs. Am appealing to IEBC through chairman Wafula Chebukati to move with speed and impound the culprits so that we can have a free and fair election,” he said.
Sitati urged voters from Webuye West and Bungoma County to resist advances from such politicians, adding that if the trend continues, it will affect chances of NASA triumphing given that Bungoma County is one of the opposition’s stronghold.
He also faulted Nzoia Sugar Company management for being unfair in their job distributions, saying Webuye West residents, who are the main suppliers of sugarcane haven’t benefitted. He also urged the County residents to support Ford Kenya party and all its candidates so that party leader Moses Wetangula can be in a better bargaining position in the coalition.
