West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin has slammed his gubernatorial rival Prof. John Lonyangapuo for not being ready for the governors’ debate. Kachapin cited that Lonyangapuo is afraid of facing him in the debate accusing him of spreading lies and propaganda concerning his government.
“He has been spreading propaganda and he is worried of being embarrassed by the public because he has been telling them lies,” said Kachapin.
He cited that many organizations were ready to organize the debate but the incumbent Senator wasn’t willing to attend.
“I wrote a letter to my brother telling him to come and he did not answer me. I want us to ask each other questions here in Makutano town, and residents will also ask us questions,” said Kachapin.
Speaking at Keringet, the County boss said he still longs for the debate, “Let him come and sell his policies and we compare. I have looked at his manifesto and it has nothing important,” he said.
He further accused Lonyangapuo of inciting locals to destroy government vehicles used for campaigns, adding that residents in the County are bright and can’t be swayed by lies. “West Pokot residents are not fools and they cannot be cheated,” he said.
However, Senator Lonyangapuo has since dismissed the allegations citing that he was ready for the debate. “I’ve been informed by the chairman of West Pokot chamber of commerce and am ready for the debate. Let the Governor be ready to present his scorecard to the residents for the years he has been in office,” said Lonyangapuo.
