Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has suspended three top County finance officials for alleged misappropriation of funds and has ordered an audit to be done which will, in turn, be made public. The three who have been suspended to pave way for investigations include Chief Officer in charge of Finance and Economic Planning Mr. Henry Koech Maritim, Principal finance officer Mr. Emmanuel Wanjala and Head of Supply Chain Management Mr. Meshack Tankoi.

This is part of the radical changes that Governor Sang promised to initiate so as to deal with corruption in Nandi, which had led to misappropriation of funds by corrupt officials.

The Governor has appointed the Chief Officer in charge of Devolution and Special Program Julius Koech to take over the Finance docket in an acting capacity while Ms. Priscah Chepchirchir takes over as the new County Budget Officer also in an acting capacity.

Mr. Wilson Kipchirchir Yebei has been appointed to replace Meshack Tankoi also in an acting capacity. Last week top county officers in health docket were suspended over graft allegations.

The County administration also advertised ten vacancies for County Executive Committee members (CECs), eighteen posts for County chief officers and ten posts in the public service board.

In a press statement dated 28th August 2017, the Governor stated that changes are meant to facilitate a special audit of the financial status of Nandi County government. He cited that major changes in various departments are yet to come and are of good benefit to the county government of Nandi insisting that will not tolerate issues of corruption.
