Armed raiders struck Kases village and made off with seventy goats along the volatile area along the West Pokot and Turkana counties yesterday evening in a retaliatory mission. The goats belonged to Ombolion location chief Joseph Korikimul.
This comes after a man was shot by Kenya Police Reservists in the village during livestock searching mission. Confirming the incident, Ombolion area chief Joseph Korkimul said an unknown number of attackers struck the village yesterday at around 1.00 pm and made off with the goats.
He said they were on a mission to look for the livestock stolen from the neighbouring Turkana County a day before when a resident, Akache Lomwakikou, was accidentally shot dead.
After the incident, raiders from Turkana attacked the home of the chief.
Korkimul said some herders were tending the goats before they were ambushed by the raiders.
He said the raiders led the goats towards Kaptir Namwerekou villages in Turkana county.
The chief said Kenya police reservists have managed to recover 7 cows and 56 goats and are still tracing other livestock.
Chief Korikimul urged the government to help to recover his stolen goats that were taken to the neighbouring county.
