Majority of residents of West Pokot County have lauded the Supreme Court’s ruling to nullify the presidential election results. Locals have, however, called for peace as the country prepares to go back to the ballot.
West Pokot Deputy Secretary for Pokot Council of Elders Mr. Matthew Ngoria said the ruling has brought sanity to Kenya’s judicial system. “The chance to vote again will enable the complainant and the one who was announced the winner to be fully satisfied,” he said.
Moreover, West Pokot Peace Committee chairperson Mr. Simon Kachepchem, said there is need integrity in the elections.
“We now need politicians to engage in peaceful campaigns and we need justice to prevail,” he said.
A resident, Daniel Loponei, cited that the ruling was good, noting that it will, however, affect the education programme in schools.
NASA supporters in the County celebrated in Kapenguria town chanting Raila Odinga slogans.
