Anti-IEBC demos planned by NASA are set to be held today, and the protests are already underway in Kisumu. NASA leaders have called for the resignation of some IEBC officials, including CEO Ezra Chiloba. During the weekend, Bungoma Governor Moses Wetangula said the bulk of the blame shouldn’t be placed on IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati, but on his counterpart Chiloba.
Prior to the demos, Wetangula said the demos will be peaceful, “We know that there are those who are itching like they’ve always done to unleash violence with crude means on peaceful demonstrations,” he said, adding that protestors will be exercising their right, “We caution them that the demonstrations and actions are not meant to be a confrontation with anybody, we are exercising our constitutional right.”
NASA leaders led by Raila Odinga have said if there are no reforms at the electoral body, then they won’t take in the fresh polls.
