Thirdway Alliance Presidential candidate Ekuru Aukot has said he met with IEBC officials to address the issue of gazettement of Presidential candidates among other issues. He insisted the Court’s order was very specific regarding the candidates who will vie, “The Court order was very specific that Aukot should be the one included in the polls, and following the withdrawal of NASA it’s clear there should be only two candidates,” said Aukot, highlighting the fact no other candidate should take part in the repeat polls. He said that the electoral body is uncertain who to include in the polls list, despite the fact that only a few days are remaining to the repeat elections.
While addressing the press outside anniversary towers in Nairobi, he said him and his team wanted updates on the level of preparedness for the repeat polls and the progress of negotiations, “We wanted to know the outcome of negotiations between IEBC, Jubilee and NASA. We wanted to know the agreements they made and in what way they can affect us,” said Aukot.
He further revealed that IEBC will present a raft of documentation to them and they’ll have a chance to review before October 26th, “We are going to review them with the party national executive and together with the legal team,” he said, “We still have concerns to raise with IEBC and we will bring them up after we review the changes and documentation.”
