President Uhuru Kenyatta today at State House, Nairobi, received credentials from three incoming envoys.
The envoys were Ambassadors Martin Gomez Bustillo of Argentina and Elizabeth Ines Taylor Jay of Colombia; and High Commissioner Sara Hradecky of Canada.
Receiving credentials from the new Argentinian and Colombian envoys, President Kenyatta reiterated Kenya’s commitment to the South-South Cooperation.
The President assured them of his support as they embark on their tour of duty in the country.
He said Kenya will continue working with the two countries as partners while using the South-South Cooperation as a vehicle of exchanging views and skills between them.
President Kenyatta commended Colombia for its success in dealing with security challenges, especially the drug menace, saying that is one area where the two countries can cooperate in.
Welcoming the new Canadian High Commissioner Hradecky, President Kenyatta said Kenya supports Global Fund initiatives as they have been of tremendous value to the county.
The President cited the fight against Malaria and HIV/AIDS as areas where Kenya has greatly benefitted from the Global Fund.
He said Kenya will continue to work closely with Canada in ensuring success of the programmes aimed at alleviating human suffering.
“We will continue working closely as partners to strengthen our relationship,” President Kenyatta told the new Canadian High Commissioner.
The Head of State said he looked forward to working closely with the three envoys for the benefit of Kenyans and their citizens.
The new Argentinian Ambassador Bustillo assured of his commitment to further promoting the relations between his country and Kenya during his tour of duty.
The new Colombian ambassador Jay said her country would continue working closely with Kenya, especially in sharing knowledge and experience in agricultural, health, environmental conservation and in promoting South-South cooperation.
On her part, Canadian High Commissioner Hradecky said her country values its partnership with Kenya, adding that Canada is ready to support Kenya in achieving its development agenda through the implementation of the 2010 Constitution.
She commended Kenya for playing a key role as regional peace mediator, saying her country would work closely with the Kenyan Government in entrenching global peace.
“Kenya is poised for significant economic growth with its innovative and dynamic youth. I will encourage Canadians to look for more investment opportunities in Kenya,” said the new Canadian High Commissioner.
Also present were the Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amb. Amina Mohammed, Head of Public Service and Chief of Staff Joseph Kinyua and the Principal Secretary Amb. Monica Juma among other senior government officials.
