Religious Leaders in Vihiga County have condemned increased accidents that are being witnessed on the roads across the Country.
Lead by African Devine Church Archbishop John Chabuga they said many Kenyans are losing their lives in road carnage.
They called on drivers to be vigilant and observe traffic rules to avoid accidents that are caused by human error.
“More than 150 Kenyans have lost their lives in road accident in the Country this festive season, and the current one which occurred yesterday at Salga in Nakuru County where 36 people lost their lives. Am calling on drivers to be disciplined on the roads to avoid such accidents”, Chabuga said.
The leaders cautioned Kenyans who board over loaded vehicles noting that such acts lead to road carnage.
“Kenyans must also be disciplined and cautious when boarding Public service Vehicles. They should avoid travelling in over loaded vehicles to reduce some of the accidents on our roads”, they said.
Chabuga condemned the National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA) for sleeping on the job while its officers and Traffic police are engaging in corrupt activities instead of creating sanity on the roads.
He added that most of the officers indulge in soliciting for bribes from Public service Vehicles and this has led to many accidents on Kenyan roads.
The Leaders were speaking when they graced New Year’s Celebrations that were held at the Church Headquarters in Boyani in Hamisi Sub County Vihiga County.
