A somber mood engulfed Bondeni village in Chekalini location, Lugari Sub County after a body of a 55 year old man was discovered floating on River Kipkaren under unclear circumstance.
According to Mr. David Mwibanda he was returning home from fishing at about 6:30am Monday morning when he spotted the body near Kiwanja ndege crossing.
“I was returning home from fishing and while on this crossing I spotted an object just directly under the crossing and on looking carefully I discover it was a human body,” said Mr. Mwibanda.
The fisherman then later informed administrators and security officers who visited the scene and retrieved the body which was later identified as Mr. Silvanus Imbai.
According to the deceased’s daughter Joslet Mmbone and son Edwin Karakacha their father left on Sunday morning for work at Bishop Sulumeti Girl’s high school Lugari but never returned.
“We waited for our father until 10pm but he didn’t come back and never communicated to us because normally if he spent night away he usually call to inform us,” said Mmbone.
She added that they became more worried after they unsuccessfully tried to reach him through his cell phone but it had been switched off.
According to Karakacha the manner in which his father’s body was found floating on the river suggests possibility of foul play
He said the body was facing down at the edge of the river with his legs laid straight outside the water.
He said it was suspected his father was murder elsewhere and his body carried and dumped at the scene as a cover up so that it could be assumed he fell from the crossing.
The body which had visible injuries was later removed to Chebaiywa mortuary in the neighbouring Uasin Gishu County for postmortem
Confirming the incdent Lugari OCPD Benedict Mwangangi said police have commence investigations to establish whether the man was murderedand dumped in the river or drawn.
